Who is Amar Monroe?

Amar Monroe is an alt pop and r&b singer dedicated to creating art that challenges norms, amplifies marginalized voices, and fosters healing through sound. "I make music to remember who I am, and to give voice to every part of me that the world tries to silence. Music became the only place where I could tell the truth without interruption. It held space for what I couldn’t say out loud. In many ways, it still does. My songs are stitched from pieces of my past—some beautiful, some painful, all personal. I’m a trans, Persian, Salvadorian artist making alternative R&B, and everything I create is a reflection of a journey that didn’t come easy. I was placed in foster care at five years old and raised mostly by my single mom. By the time I hit ninth grade, I’d gone to around 15 schools. Constant change became normal—but music was always my anchor. I had to learn how to protect my joy, my voice, and my art. That’s why my music is so layered—it reflects the waves that I’ve lived through. It’s soft and bold, nostalgic and futuristic, intimate and resistant. My influences are just as expansive: I’ve learned emotional control from Ella Fitzgerald, vulnerability from Kurt Cobain, groove from T-Pain, and timelessness from Aaliyah. Professionally, the road has been long. I’ve had to self-educate on everything—from studio setups to promotion to navigating a music industry that often excludes people like me. But each obstacle pushed me to carve a lane for myself and others. That’s why I created The Review Room, a community platform that offers honest, supportive feedback to independent artists. At the core of my work is a desire to uplift. Whether I’m singing, mentoring, or producing events, I move with love and purpose. I’m here to reflect back the humanity of people who often go unseen. My brand is rooted in good energy, healing, and the belief that vulnerability is power. My art is a mirror, a bridge, and sometimes a shield. It’s my way of saying: I’ve been where you are. You’re not alone. And your voice matters no matter who are are.
